Washington is one of only a few states that requires a 60% supermajority for the passage of school bond measures. This requirement has made it increasingly difficult to pass bonds to update school facilities in recent years. Many districts achieve a majority approval vote (50% +1), but the measure fails a point or two shy of the 60% passage threshold. With this in mind, Bremerton School District contacted our team in September requesting support with an informational communications campaign for a February bond and replacement levy. The stakes were high and we hit the ground running, partnering with them to keep the bond and levy information going strong (and compliant) right up until election day. Bremerton was one of only a handful of districts to pass their bond and their levy in the state in that election, and they increased their levy approval percentage by an amazing 18% over their previous levy election results!
